Thrilled to share that I’ve been accepted as an Orchestra Institute clarinet Fellow at the OAcademy Global Artist Diploma 2027 cohort!
I’m excited to continue my development as a career musician and am looking forward to meeting other Fellows online when the program begins next year.

This summer, I managed to chance on an opportunity to return to my alma mater to serve as an alumni of the WRSSB. It was wonderful catching up with old friends and making new ones. It was great playing with the alumni band!
I also spent an afternoon sharing about my journey with the current students. It made me realise how the school band greatly altered the trajectory of my life and career, which I will forever be grateful for. Thank you for having me! @wrss.bandlumni
#throwback to this past Spring: Clarinetlandia organized by @chatterpdx

Some moments from Summer Clarinet Fair 2026
Congratulations to Sean, @musicgearsingapore for a successful weekend of clarinet! Events like these always display the passion and strength of the local clarinet community in Singapore. It was also a pleasure working and hanging out with Jenny @clarinetistinparis this past week. I learnt so much from my colleagues and also had the privilege of leading the clarinet jamboree. I hope everyone had a great experience!
Always grateful for the support given by Yamaha Music and D’Addario Woodwinds 🫶 @yamahamusic.sg @chenisaac @daddariowoodwinds @thebandworld
Feeling very inspired by the amazing performances at @icaclarinet ClarinetFest 2026! It was great meeting new people and old friends at the event. Glad to have @nonesuch.reedquintet performing in Incheon as well.
Congratulations to @wonkakkim , the ICA organizing team, interns and volunteers for a successful week. Looking forward to the next one!
I consistently lose track of time during the Bandung Philharmonic Orchestra Academy. Our students achieved so much in a span of 2 weeks and I enjoyed every moment working with them. I am especially proud of our woodwind section who have bonded so well to become a formidable team!
Congratulations to the @bandungphil team for planning and executing the academy. Events such as this create a meaningful opportunity for young musicians around the region. Horas!!!
Looking forward to a great week of teaching and working with this lovely group of clarinet players from SE Asia! #bandungphilacademy
The end of AY 2025/26: So honored to have been working with these wonderful people (and more, not pictured) from the UO clarinet studio this past year. Their progress has been tremendous from their hard work and I am so proud of them! Keep growing with music🎵💪🤩
Thank you for your trust Dr. @wonkakkim !
Quick side quest last weekend up north: Glad to have met Dr. @barbaraheilmair and her wonderful clarinet studio at Portland State University, and played for @jamestshields in an insightful masterclass. Crossed into Washington state after for some additional EXP farming and got to catch up with @doobies19 @courtneuuu and @ moosey!!
Wrapping up the RVS 25/26 season with this great team! Feeling lucky to be playing awesome repertoire, witnessing inspiring soloists and performing for the wonderful community in Southern Oregon this past year.
Kudos to the hardworking @rvsymphony team and maestro @mmaestrissimo for leading the way!
Happy Daylight Savings Day. 2nd DMA recital done… Incredibly grateful for my advisors, collaborators, mentors, friends and studio for their support. It is so refreshing to rediscover the joy of presenting a solo recital!
I also have @paulaalvag ❤️ to thank for being my pillar of support during what has now become one of my craziest terms (to date…)
Next up: Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 this Thursday at the Hult Center with the UO Symphony Orchestra
Judging the SOMEA District 8 Solo and Ensemble Festival today in Ashland. I love this opportunity to listen to and work with students in Southern Oregon region. To the candidates- have fun!!!

A fun exercise this Sunday afternoon with goal of trying to get away from the rigidity of rhythmic notation, one of my prominent ‘vices’ at the moment. It’s especially challenging to feel the laid-back feel of the 16ths (much more on the swings), and it’s so tempting to click into metronome mode 😂
On another note… straying away from the mechanics of technique and letting the sound in the mind take precedence is one of the most magical concepts I’ve learnt in the past few years. Let’s see where this will take me…
I recently revamped my website. It is also my intention to share my thoughts on performance and pedagogy regularly there. Please check it out!

Catching up on posts… feeling extremely grateful to have learnt so much from some amazing musicians these past 10 weeks:
Masterclass with Garrick Zoeter, professor of clarinet at Shenandoah Conservatory,
Masterclass with Lawrie Bloom, former solo bass clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra,
Chamber masterclass and reading session of the Mozart Quintet and Brahms Trio with the Zemlinsky String Quartet, and conversations on tone concepts and instruments with technician Wolfgang Lohff.
Thank you Dr. @wonkakkim for bringing these guest artists here!!
Now I just need to hang on for 1.5 more weeks until the winter break… ❄️⛄️
