Hi, I’m David.
Having studied music performance in Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, Singaporean KWEK is a multi-faceted musician who aims to bring holistic perspectives both his performance and pedagogy.
He is one of the founding board members and Secretary of the nonesuch.reedquintet, a 501(c)3 organization that serves to provide accessible music education to the world through the medium of chamber music.
Kwek is a Yamaha Performing Artist and plays on SE-Artist Clarinets. He is also endorsed by D’addario Woodwinds and plays on Reserve Evolution reeds.
His research interests include clarinet performance, pedagogy in conjunction with behavioural science.

Singaporean DAVID KWEK is pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Music Performance at the University of Oregon, School of Music and Dance under the mentorship of Dr. Wonkak Kim. He is also the Clarinet Graduate Employee Instructor, assisting with teaching and administrative duties for the clarinet studio. He currently serves as the Principal Clarinet position at the Rogue Valley Symphony in Ashland, Oregon, and the Bandung Philharmonic in Indonesia.
Kwek attained his MMus with department honors from UO SOMD, and BMus with first class honors from the joint degree program of the University of the Arts Singapore and the Royal College of Music (London). His teachers were Eng Hock Onn, Tang Xiao Ping, Janet Hilton, Michael Harris and Michael Anderson. His achievements include the Embassy of Peru Award (2019), Best Graduate Performer Award (UO 2024) and the First Prize of the Clarinet Asia competition (2019) held in Macau.
