Singaporean DAVID ZECHARIAH KWEK is pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Music Performance at the University of Oregon, School of Music and Dance under the mentorship of Dr. Wonkak Kim. He is also the Clarinet Graduate Employee Instructor, assisting with teaching and administrative duties for the clarinet studio. He currently serves as the Principal Clarinet at the Rogue Valley Symphony (Ashland, Oregon) and the Bandung Philharmonic (Indonesia).

He also serves as the founding board member and secretary of the nonesuch.reedquintet, a Pacific Northwest based professional chamber ensemble and 501(c)(3) non-profit organization recognized for its innovative programming, artistic excellence, and commitment to expanding the reed quintet repertoire.

Kwek attained his MMus with department honors from UO SOMD, and BMus with first class honors from the joint degree program of the University of the Arts Singapore and the Royal College of Music (London). His teachers were Eng Hock Onn, Tang Xiao Ping, Janet Hilton, Michael Harris and Michael Anderson. His achievements include the Embassy of Peru Award (2019), Best Graduate Performer Award (UO 2024) and the First Prize of the Clarinet Asia competition (2019) held in Macau.

David Kwek is grateful to be endorsed by Yamaha Music Singapore and D’Addario Woodwinds. He exclusively plays on YCL-SE ARTIST Clarinets and Organic Reserve Reeds.
